From experience, we know that where you stay is as important as where you play golf. The Golf Travel Co. offers a wide selection of hotel options throughout France to satisfy our clients needs. Where available, we try to offer a range of options. Please note that all hotels we use include private bathrooms. All hotels are regularly inspected by The Golf Travel Co. to insure a consistent level of quality and service. Our Golf Tour Specialists will discuss your options and recommend the appropriate hotel for your vacation. In order to assist with your hotel selection please find a brief description of each category we use:

FIRST CLASS: Most accommodations in this category are 3-Star rated and have a quality level of service, with a good choice of in room and hotel amenities.

SUPERIOR FIRST CLASS: Most accommodations in this category are either 3-Star or 4-Star rated and have a high level of service, with a wide choice of in room and hotel amenities.

COUNTRY HOUSE: This category includes properties that have a more unique and intimate setting. Each Country House in this category possesses it's own distinctive characteristics. They all offer a high level of service.

DELUXE: Hotels in this group provide the highest level of service, superb room furnishings and offer the most on-site amenities. They are predominantly 4-Star or 4-Star Luxe (deluxe) (note there is no 5-Star rating in France).

The accommodations we offer have been selected for a variety of reasons. Most notably, they consistently receive high marks from previous The Golf Travel Co. travelers. In addition, the accommodations are ideally situated near the golf courses and the hotel staff understand the special needs of the golf traveler. Regardless of your choice we know you will enjoy the hotels as much as the golf.

The Bordeaux Area

Superior First Class

Hotel Burdigala (Bordeaux). Bordeaux's finest hotel. The Burdigala is an elegant combination of classic and modern styles. It's 68 rooms all come with the amenities you would expect to find in a hotel of quality stature, including either a granite or marble bathroom. Also included are a top restaurant and intimate cocktail bar. A private underground car park is available to hotel guests. Best of all, the center of this elegant city is only a few minutes away.

Country House

Chateau Le Lout (Medoc). Chateau Le Lout is a small, intimate hotel with only 6 bedrooms. Set in the heart of the Medoc vineyards, the friendly, attentive staff will make you feel very welcome. It is known for it's gourmet cuisine and Medoc golf is only 3 miles away.

Deluxe

Chateau Des Vigiers (Vigiers). One of the finest golf properties in Europe. Chateau des Vigiers has it all - fine food, luxuriously appointed bedrooms, beautiful public areas, an award winning vineyard, fishing lake and yes - a Donald Steel designed course on site. The "Little Versailles" chateau dates from the 16th century. The resort includes 25 rooms in the main chateau and 22 rooms in the adjoining 'dependances'. All rooms are elegantly furnished and have great views over the course and countryside.

The Biarritz Area

First Class

Hotel de Chiberta (Biarritz). A welcoming hotel with excellent facilities and a great location - just yards from the excellent links of Chiberta and within easy reach of Biarritz. It's 58 rooms are bright and comfortable. Amenities include a restaurant, bar, indoor and outdoor pool and gym. The public rooms are decorated in the Basque 1930's style. A true golfer's hotel.

Country House

Le Chateau du Clair de Lune (Biarritz). A stylish and discreet manor-house hotel set in a landscaped park just outside Biarritz. Just 15 rooms - some in the main chateau, some in the beautiful hunting lodge and all comfortably furnished. Amenities include a restaurant, bar and private car park. A real "home away from home" atmosphere and ideal for those looking for proximity to Biarritz and an elegant hotel in a secluded location.

Deluxe

Hotel du Palais (Biarritz). One of Europe's truly great hotels. This former summer retreat of Napoleon is in a class of it's own. Impeccable service and an outstanding location in the center of Biarritz, overlooking the Atlantic make this an experience you will not soon forget. It's 156 rooms boast old-style elegance and the public rooms are superb - from the panoramic restaurant overlooking the Atlantic to the marble reception hall. Sample the outdoor seawater heated pool, gym, sauna and even a chipping green next to the beach!

The Cote D'Azur (Cannes) Area

Superior First Class

Hotel Gray d'Albion (Cannes). Sister property to the more famous Majestic. It is a modern hotel with 186 very comfortable rooms - all with a balcony. The hotel has a fine in-house restaurant, as well as an excellent beach restaurant on it's own private beach. Tennis, an outdoor pool and brasserie are just five minutes from the hotel at the Gallia Lucien Barriere sports club.

Country House

Auberge de la Vignette Haute (Auribeau sur Siagne). A small luxury hotel in the hills outside Cannes and close to Mougins and Grasse golf clubs. La Vignette Haute is a mixture of Provencal and medieval architecture. It is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World and has a very welcoming atmosphere and lots of small public rooms and annexes that add to it's charm. The 14 delightful bedrooms are tastefully appointed with antique furniture and all the creature comforts. Amenities include a popular restaurant, outdoor heated pool, garden and it's own 'lovers museum'!

Deluxe

Hotel Majestic (Cannes). One of Cannes best known land marks. It has a rare combination of style, elegance and informality. The hotel is set back from the famous resort avenue with a sweeping driveway, private pool and hotel gardens. It's 287 rooms are well equipped (optional seaview rooms are available). Facilities include 1920's style public rooms, five tennis courts, top rated restaurant, bars, hairdresser, sauna, outdoor heated pool and underground car park.

The Provence Area

Superior First Class

Golf Plaza Ste. Maxime (Ste. Maxime). A golfer's delight. Each one of the 106 "Provencal" bedrooms has modern facilities, a balcony and views over the golf course and resort. Other amenities include a restaurant, clubhouse bar, indoor and outdoor pool, tennis, gym, sauna and private car park. The Golf Plaza offers great value 4-Star comfort and is a great base to explore both the coast and inland Provence.

Hotel de Fregate (Fregate). The 4-Star Hotel de Fregate, with magnificent views over the golf course, gardens and on to the Mediterranean, has 100 sea-facing rooms, plus a splendid new "Resort Suite" complex with each suite offering one or two bedrooms, balcony, lounge and kitchen facilities. You will have, at your disposal, three swimming pools, a fitness center, tennis courts, riding club and jogging/walking trails. There are even vineyards around the hotel which produce Bandol wines under the Domaine de Fregate label. The Hotel de Fregate particularly prides itself on food. In addition to the buffet breakfast, the hotel has a clubhouse brasserie, poolside barbecue and gourmet restaurant.

Country House

Hostellerie Berard (La Cadiere d'Azur). A true labor of love - a local family have owned this award winning hotel since 1969. It features 40 beautiful bedrooms, an outdoor pool, gym, private car park, bar and a highly praised restaurant. The complex includes a Provence manor house, old farm buildings and an 11th century monastery - all overlooking the Bandol vineyards. All this in one of the most picturesque villages in Provence.

Les Gorges de Pennafort (Callas). This property epitomizes the best of a Provence hotel - small, family-run, superb restaurant and in a beautiful location. The 16 bedrooms are very well appointed and comfortable with good bathrooms. As well as a superb restaurant, there is a bar, outdoor heated pool, gardens and lake. The hotel is only 10 minutes from St. Endreol GC and is situated in the actual Gorges de Pennafort so the backdrop is stunning. Very French, very relaxing and very enjoyable.
