Kiawah Island Golf Courses
The Kiawah Island Area
The Kiawah Resort and surrounding area
provides unmatched play on some of the best courses designed
by Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio and Gary Player. In 2012,
Kiawah will host the 94th PGA Championship and with five world
class golf courses, this classic resort offers an unparalleled
golf experience.
OSPREY POINT: Designed by Tom Fazio who blended this 6.871 yard
par 72 into a backdrop that features four natural lakes, saltwater
marsh and a forest of magnolias, pines and palmettos. Another
Kiawah golf course with numerous awards, Osprey Point golf course
was given 4.5 Stars in Golf Digest's 2006 "Best Places to
Play" and ranked in "America's Top 75 Resort
Courses" by
that same magazine.
OAK POINT: The newest of all the
Kiawah golf courses, this par-72 Scottish-American style course
is tucked away in the center of Hope Plantation, just outside
of the Kiawah gate. This Clyde Johnston design was rated among "America's
Best" by
Golfweek magazine and given 4.5 stars in Golf Digest's 2006 "Best
Places To Play."
TURTLE POINT: Add this Jack Nicklaus
design to your Kiawah Island golf
package if you are prepared
to test your length and accuracy. Turtle Point is 6,914 yards
from the back markers, features five par-4s that are 420 yards
or longer and is home to Kiawah Island's golf school. In 2004,
Golf Digest awarded this course with "4.5
Stars."
COUGAR POINT: In 2004, Golf Digest awarded this Kiawah Island
golf course with 4.5 stars. Gary Player designed this 6,861 yards
par-72 layout to test the scratch golfer while still allowing
enjoyable rounds for all levels of golfers. Cougar Point is known
for its three-hole stretch midway through the front nine and
offers four magnificent finishing holes.
OCEAN COURSE: All 18 holes of this Pete Dye design offer panoramic
views of the Atlantic Ocean. This golf course hosted the dramatic "War
by the Shore" 1991 Ryder Cup and is slated to host the Senior
PGA Championship in 2007 and PGA Championship in 2012. Here's
your chance to tee it up at one of only
16 golf courses to be honored with 5 stars from Golf Digest.
WILD DUNES: The Links Course at
Wild Dunes was originally designed by Tom Fazio in 1980 and still
one of the South Carolina’s
best courses. Undulating greens, massive dunes, well placed pot
bunkers and the ever-present wind recall the game’s Scottish
birthplace.
