From experience, we know that where you stay is as important as where you play golf. The Golf Travel Co. offers a wide selection of hotel options throughout Portugal to satisfy our clients needs. Where available, we try to offer a range of options. Please note that all hotels we use include private bathrooms. All hotels are regularly inspected by The Golf Travel Co. to insure a consistent level of quality and service. Our Golf Tour Specialists will discuss your options and recommend the appropriate hotel for your vacation. In order to assist with your hotel selection please find a brief description of each category we use:

SUPERIOR FIRST CLASS: Most accommodations in this category are 4-Star rated and have a high level of service, with a wide choice of in room and hotel amenities.

DELUXE: Hotels in this group provide the highest level of service, superb room furnishings and offer the most on-site amenities. They are predominantly 5-Star. 

The accommodations we offer have been selected for a variety of reasons. Most notably, they consistently receive high marks from previous The Golf Travel Co. travelers. In addition, the accommodations are ideally situated near the golf courses and the hotel staff understand the special needs of the golf traveler. Regardless of your choice we know you will enjoy the hotels as much as the golf.

The Algarve Area

Superior First Class

Almansor Hotel (Carvoeiro). This well appointed 4-Star hotel, which opened in April 1991, is situated in the picturesque fishing village of Carvoeiro, just 40 miles from Faro Airport. It was built on the rocks above the Vale Covo beach, which is surrounded by caves and rocks forming an inlet of clear and quiet waters. As fortold by an old Algarvian legend, Almansor was a Moorish general, who died a sorrowful death for losing a battle against the King of Leon and Castile. The scenic fishing village of Carvoeiro with its neat white rows of chimneys has preserved all the charm of the Algarve from times of yore. It has become one of the most beautiful tourist areas, where you can see the 'Nossa Senhora da Encarnação' Fortress (XVII Century), partly destroyed, with its spectacular perforated rock formations of the Algar Seco.

Le Meridien Dona Filipa Hotel (Vale do Lobo). Surrounded by the villas and gardens of the Vale do Lobo estate, the seventeenth fairway of Vale do Lobo Royal Golf Course snakes its way past the hotel, through umbrella pines and mimosa blossom, over the red cliffs to the splendid beach. Local marble, traditional Portuguese tiles, stone floors and rugs add distinctive charm to a hotel that ranks high for service, facilities and location. It is only ten minutes drive from San Lorenzo Golf Club and 12 miles from Faro Airport.

Quinta do Lago Hotel (Almancil). Situated at the furthermost tip of the Quinta do Lago estate, this exclusive hotel is surrounded by pine trees and large landscaped gardens that tumble down to the Ria Formosa estuary. The interior decor is elegant, with marble, ornate tiles and large windows affording panoramic views of the gardens, marshland and Atlantic Ocean beyond.

Le Meridien Penina Hotel (Alvor). Already an established favorite for many years, Penina is now one of the finest and most comprehensive golfing resorts in Europe. Located between the Monchique Mountains and Portimao the hotel offers a tranquil and elegant setting for your holiday in the quieter Western Algarve. Along with the famous Championship golf course, venue of the 1998,1999 and 2000 Portuguese Opens, Penina offers a very extensive range of sports and leisure facilities which will appeal to golfers and non-golfers alike.

The Estoril Area
